This procedure is for depositing departmental checks, money orders, and cashier's checks. It requires the attached UChicago—Oracle Currency Report of Money Received (ROMR).
The Central AR Office does not accept cash deposits. If you need to deposit cash, please follow this two-step process:
- Visit Maroon Financial Credit Union (MFCU) to convert your cash and coins into a cashier's check. You must complete the Maroon Currency Transaction Form for University Departments (rev 2024-01) and present it at MFCU. Please note that the cashier's check will be payable to the University of Chicago.
- After you get the cashier's check, please bring it along with the ROMR form to the Central AR Office for processing.
Completing the ROMR:
- Complete the E-ROMR in Excel and print the form to submit with your check deposit. Do not print the form and fill it out by hand, as it contains built-in formulas. Save a copy for your records.
- Before printing the E-ROMR for processing, confirm the following:
- UChicago Internal Bank # = Bank 12 (Central AR)
- Each deposit item requires a valid 41-digit COA account number (the required fields are broken out on the ROMR).
- Deposit and Distribution Total in Balance = OK TO SUBMIT TO CENTRAL AR
- Paper clip the checks to the ROMR (DO NOT STAPLE)
- Confirmation of the deposit completion will be delivered to the email listed on the ROMR within 2 business days of Central AR processing the deposit.
Submitting the ROMR:
Submit your completed ROMR(s) and supporting documentation to Central AR using one of the delivery methods below:
- U.S. mail to University of Chicago Central Accounts Receivable Office PO BOX 736157 Chicago, IL 60673-6157
- Faculty Exchange (UChicago campus mail) to Yolanda Peoples, Drexel Bldg., Suite 301
- Central AR Dropbox Drexel Building lobby, you can access the lobby after regular business hours with your UChicago ID.
