Box Shield is a native multi-layered threat detection tool that is being utilized in UChicago Box. Box Shield scans content as it is uploaded, shared, previewed, edited, or downloaded. Box Shield provides coverage for sophisticated malware and ransomware.
If a UChicago Box user uploads/accesses a file identified as a malicious file (malware), they will receive an alert.
Additionally, files that are determined to be malware will issue an alert in UChicago Box and generate a ServiceNow ticket.
The storage and security teams will use tools to help determine if the file is malicious. If the file is deemed safe, the alert will be cleared. If the file is deemed to be malicious, you will be notified and asked to remove the file from Box. Additionally, the file will not be downloadable or editable.
