Hull Accounts FAQ

Hull accounts are regular-looking CNetIDs that provide authentication but no other services. They are used in cases when a person needs to authenticate (or log in) to a departmental or divisional system only.

Who can have a Hull account?

Hull Administrators have the ability to create Hull accounts for people who do not hold a University affiliation but need very limited access to University systems. Additionally, all University faculty, students, and staff accounts transition into Hull accounts once the faculty, student, or staff member leaves the University and the account goes through closure. (Note: University emeriti retain full account services and alumni retain email forwarding and wireless access in addition to authentication services.)

How do I get to the Hull Administrative tool?

If your group has a need for authentication-only services for people who do not have regular CNetIDs, please contact the TAG administration team at tag@uchicago.edu to discuss your use case and see if Hull is the right solution for your needs. Hull Administrators may access the Hull Administrative tool at cnet.uchicago.edu/ams/servlet/NSITAAMS.

If I have a Hull account, can I have an additional account so I can get services?

No. Each member of the University is allowed only one CNetID. Your Hull account provides you with that CNetID. However, if you become an active faculty or staff member or student, your Hull account will expand to include the services that your new status allows you to have. There are cases where additional services have been provided to Hull accounts in order to meet various needs. If you have a special need for your Hull accounts, contact the TAG administration team.

Do all Trusted Agents have the ability to set up Hull accounts? How can I become a Hull Administrator?

No. Some Trusted Agents are Hull Administrators, but there are other Hull Administrators who are not Trusted Agents. If you need Hull Administrator status, please consult with the TAG administration team.
