Incognito Chats are timed and secure threads between the user and PhoenixAI. To create one,
- Navigate to phoenixai.uchicago.edu
- Click on the dropdown menu at the top of the screen labeled with the name of the current model.
- Toggle the Incognito Chat option on.
- A new screen appears.
The icon in the middle of the screen changes and a new message is displayed: "This chat won't appear in your history and won't remember anything you talk about. Chat will be deleted 30 minutes after entry of first prompt". All past threads, assistants, and the Create an Assistant button are now greyed out.
Access to past threads, assistants, and creating new assistants is denied for the Incognito Chat's duration. Submitting prompts and receiving responses works the same as any normal thread. The main difference is that these threads, which only exist between the user and PhoenixAI, are deleted after 30 minutes from chat creation. All files, prompts, and responses present in an Incognito Chat are purged after the timer runs out, the page is closed, or a new chat is created.
For security purposes, there is no way to recover any information after the chat has been closed. Additionally, a message is displayed if you attempt to use the chat after its duration has ended: "Incognito chat session has expired. Please create a new one".
