Introduction
The purpose of this quick reference guide is to outline the intended uses of the Imported News Article template on the UChicago Intranet for Sitecore content authors. The document also includes best practices for components most commonly used on this page template.

Where to use the Imported News Article template
The Imported News Article template should be used to add external news stories to the Intranet. A new imported news article template can only be created under the "External News Articles" folder under "News and Events."
Examples in use
Because external news articles all link out to external sites, there are no live link examples. You can only see examples within Sitecore.
Fields
This template does not contain any components because each item links out to an external source. Rather, you will need to fill in the fields in the Content Editor.
*Fields with an asterisk are required
- Link*: Use "insert external link" to insert a link to the external news story of your choosing.
- Link Text*: Link Text should match the title of the story.
- Rich Text 1*: Paste the entire body copy of the news story into this field using "Paste as Plain Text." This text does not then need to be formatted. It is only for search to scan the content of the story.
- Image*: Download an image from the external news story, crop it to 1000 by 600px, and upload it here. Please ensure the file name coordinates with the image and upload these photos into an appropriate folder in the media library. All images uploaded must include alternate text. - Image Caption: Leave blank
- Title*: Copy the title of the news story here.
- Featured Image Override: Leave blank
- Thumbnail Image: Leave blank
- Author*: Copy the author of the external news story here. If there is no author, copy and paste the News Source here.
- News Source*: Input the source where this news story is coming from.
- Publish Date*: Update this date to match the publish date of the story.
- Exclude from Search Results: If you do not want this news story to appear in search results, you can check this box. It is unlikely you'll need to check this box.
Taxonomy
The Taxonomy section of your Imported News Article Page is important for adding tags to help categorize your news story to reach its intended audience.
To make edits to Taxonomy, navigate to your page in the Content Editor, and find the Taxonomy section (toward the bottom).
School/Division
You can choose from a list of schools and divisions to associate with your content. To select a school/division, click on the school/division of your choosing, and click the right arrow to move it over into the Selected box. You can choose more than one school or division if applicable. If you do not see your school/division in this list, please reach out to uchicagointranet@uchicago.edu.
Tags
This section is not currently functional. Please ignore this section.
Target User Role
If your news story is meant for a specific user role (like Staff or Academic) you can select that role in this section from a dropdown. If you leave this blank, it will be visible to all roles.
Topic
Please select the topic most relevant to your news story from the dropdown list. If no topics are relevant you can select "none."
