In order to use a Canon multifunction device (MFD), you will first need to install the driver. To do this on a Mac device, use the following instructions.
Go to System Preferences then select Printers & Scanners.
From here, select + (plus sign) in the list of Printers. This will open a new window for you to enter the printer information.
Select Advanced. Tip: If you don't see the Advanced option (gear icon), right-click in the toolbar next to the Default and IP buttons then select Customize Toolbar from the drop-down menu. Next, drag the Advanced button to the toolbar next to the other buttons.
On the Advanced screen, enter the information for each of these fields: Type: Choose LPD/LPR Host or Printer. Device: Leave as Another Device. URL: Enter lpd://CNetID@ucprint1/UCSecurePrint (For example, if your CNetID is johnsmith, enter lpd://johnsmith@@ucprint1/UCSecurePrint). Name: Choose an easy name for you to remember the printer when you print a job. Use: Select the printer model that you are printing to or keep the default as Generic PostScript Printer.
