You can use your Android to securely connect to the UChicago network from anywhere in the world. All you need is the Cisco AnyConnect Virtual Private Network app, which is easy to install. Simply follow these instructions.
If you cannot successfully install the app, contact IT Services for assistance.
Requirements: Versions 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) through 7.0 (Nougat). An active internet connection.
- Locate the AnyConnect app within your Play Store.
- Tap on the Install button.
- Search for your newly installed AnyConnect application. Tap the AnyConnect icon. The icon will look like this:
- The very first time you start AnyConnect, you may get a pop-up message to agree to the End User License Agreement. If so, tap OK to proceed.
- The very first time you start AnyConnect, you may get a pop-up message that AnyConnect needs to be granted permission to function. The first pop-up will be an information message, so tap OK to proceed.
- Select Allow to grant AnyConnect permission to make and manage calls.
- Tap Connections, then enter cVPN into the Connections field. Tap Allow to continue.
- For the Description field, enter CVPN or another description that makes sense to you. Enter cvpn.uchicago.edu in the Server Address field, then tap Done.
- Move the slider for AnyConnect VPN from "Off" to On (left to right) to start the VPN service while the application is loaded.
- When prompted, log in with your CNetID and password, then click Connect.
- Verify your identity using two-factor authentication (2FA) in order to access the cVPN.
- To disconnect from cVPN service while the application is loaded, move the slider for AnyConnect VPN to Off (right to left).
